Who's who in the court of the King?
From the actors themselves, what's going on with Macbeth?
What is it like to be a witch?
Following auditions so popular that NSC had to schedule an extra day to see everybody, rehearsals have begun on The Tragedy of Macbeth - playing across the Midlands from 19th February to 1st March 2025.
Directed by NSC favourite, Michelle-Louise Wright, this is set to be a step toward the dark. "I have directed the Summer productions until now," says Wright, "and I am looking forward to engaging with the bloodier side of Shakespeare."
Expect something a bit sexier from NSC this season too! "I am interested in exploring the relationship between Macbeth and his Lady too - they are famously the only happily married couple in Shakespeare and the entwinement of the two clearly drives the action of the play." Wright asks, "What makes a man of honour, a soldier and a general, follow such a dark path? And what place does 'great love' have in motivating his Lady to cast her own soul into peril to get him what he deserves?"
